AI being pumped into everything. It drives me absolutely nuts that every fucking thing has to have AI. Now you can buy a laptop that uses AI to write an email, just so the receiver can use AI to summarise it. We’re going to start using computers to develop enormous amounts of crap before we finally realise that putting the effort into writing, reading, drawing, designing etc. is actually worthwhile. Don’t get me wrong, I see several use cases for AI where it’s very good, and studied genetic algorithms at uni (i.e. software that can rewrite itself given feedback on its output), but what is being pushed on us now will just encourage laziness and ultimately be a detriment to humans in general.

Fuckn YAWN Everything has to be a franchise now doesn’t it? They already butchered The Hobbit by turning a short story into 9 hours of crap by padding out and blatantly making shit up. It’s not like all these “safe bets” the studios are making are paying out too well at the moment, so why not try taking some smaller risks with new and different projects? I’m sure Hollywood is flooded with people with original ideas and scripts that are being bypassed because Fast And Fuckaround 11tyone needs to be made because money.

In Australia I knew I guy who was a SovCit and he would do stupid things like quote the bill of rights. We’d say “what bill of rights?” Australia doesn’t have one. All his info came from the US and he just followed it with realising none of it was relevant in a different country.

Right! Can you imagine if Rembrandt had an executive committee behind him dictating what to paint a picture of, then micromanaging brush strokes? That’s the games-for-shareholders model, and it’s fucked. Games are best when made by people who are passionate about the project, not solely about the profit. My big hope now is the publishers learn from the Sony debacle and simply publish the game, be happy with their profit cut, and shut the fuck up.
