Feels like a risky click. I’m not sure my worldview can take any more shattering. It’s already shattered I tell you. SHATTERED.
The Riva line were absolute bangers tbh. Mad props to the driver developers who were always playing catch-up on the hardware (mad props to the hardware designers implied) but always delivered the goods. I honestly hope they’re rich AF.
Holy cow that first camera is just so full of genius engineering.

Slartibartfast is a Magrathean and a designer of planets.[2] His favourite part of the job is creating coastlines, the most notable of which are the fjords found on the coast of Norway on planet Earth,[3] for which he won an award.

Today I Learned@lemmy.world•TIL that it was the English that burned Joan of ArcEnglish
10·20 days agoThat’s not what I learned, it was that she was wearing male clothing (for safety) then renounced that, then later ended up in male clothing (probably through coercion) and that was considered a renunciation, ergo murder.
She was fucked anyway from the get go after being caught by the English who had declared her a heretic early.
I just finished listening to the episode on her on half arsed history…

10·20 days agoI can’t think of a single job it can replace.
Me either and I don’t think it ever will reach that. We’re already seeing diminishing returns.
The thing is it doesn’t need to replace a full job. If it improves productivity by 10% then that’s the number that will either lose their job or just not get hired in the first place.
I’m sure these are very worrying times for folks in college, especially computer science and the arts.
UBI seems like the only long term solution to me.

2·21 days agoWe don’t have that rating where I live. 18 is the max but it used to be a thing in the very olden days and I did see one non-porn that had that rating.
I haven’t heard of it in ages though so this could be marketing.

4·21 days agoAs I understand it there are guidelines so you know what you’re going to get before it goes to print.
My wife used to work for the national broadcaster here and her mate got paid to watch TV and rate it before it went out. It was basically a checklist.

Today I Learned@lemmy.world•TIL that Missouri forced Kansas City to spend at least 25% of its budget on police. The measure passed, despite 66% of Kansas City residents opposing itEnglish
9·26 days agoYeah, and I know this sounds trivial by comparison, but we had something similar here recently and it was a proposed ban on fox hunting that the government scooched away that the populous were wildly in favour of.
I have to say that if 25% of my city’s money was being spent on police I’d be making them earn their fucking money and you may infer from that what you will.
Imagine the opportunity cost. And guess who lost the most in that trade? The most vulnerable.
It doesn’t look like it. The original source and the linked one on Reddit aren’t signed.

Some of the larger disposables do have a charging port. I guess it allows them ship a smaller battery which is good
