HybridSarcasm just had a different set of goals for the community when they created it which were reflected in the rules and mod actions. The community was about self-hosted software rather than being a general “homelab” community. Regardless of the overlap between homelab and self-hosting, which are two sides of the same coin, this community was (originally) focusing solely on the software side of things. All of their mod actions reflect that.
Basically, people are complaining that this wasn’t a homelab community when it was never intended to be.

I’ve been in an airbags deployed accident while wearing glasses. I was fine, and so were my glasses.
Getting hit in the face with a pillow is actually worse than hitting the airbag at 50 mph. The airbag also partially deflates nearly as fast as it inflates. i.e. you don’t smack into it hard and it just cushions you and keeps you from smacking into the steering wheel. It’s also designed to work with the seatbelts, so those should also be keeping you from being right up in the airbag’s business. Hence, the technical name for airbags, SRS (supplemental restraint system)
You’d have to be eye-level with the center of the steering wheel, not wearing a seatbelt, and right up on it for that to be a concern.

So, specs-wise, it’s not far off from the S22 other than running a cleaner and newer OS and having twice the RAM (4GB vs 2 and quite a bit more onboard storage (64 GB vs 16). Screen is even the same res, so kinda bummed but understandable that 480x640 (portrait VGA) is sufficient for the form factor/use cases.
The camera is a LOT better, though.
$500 and up with no specs mentioned. Yikes.
Price aside, I absolutely love the idea of this and would compare it to the CAT S22 Flip I’ve been using for almost 2 years. Mine runs a (now) de-Googled Android 11, so it is getting a bit long in the tooth. The screen on this one also seems a bit larger which would be nice for maps and such (the S22 can do Organic Maps just fine, but the screen is tiny).

I don’t like this, though. At least, not the web browser part of it. The nice thing about the S22 is I can do that just fine, albeit annoyingly small and suboptimal, when I need to. Like, if I’m out and about and need to look up a business or phone number or something. The catch is that while I can use the web browser for what I need, it’s too small / clunky to spend time farting around with things that aren’t necessary. Hopefully there’s a setting to allow that because that would be a dealbraker for me as I am on the lookout for a worthy successor to my S22.
I would never feed the beast to attempt that, but if anyone would, I’d be interested to see the plan it generates and if the fediverse is a part of that.
