The bigger the universe, the bigger his godhood. The only question is, why on earth (or why in the whole universe) he should focus on a small unimportant species on a planet called earth?!

Because you1, the believer, are special. Of course the god of the universe has taken an interest in your life and is making sure you follow the rules so your score can be adequately tallied when they decide to kill you off. Never mind the kid getting flattened by a truck two blocks over, your favorite sports team has to put the ball in the hole and besides, the kid didn’t pray to not get hit by a truck so it’s his own fault, really.

In case it doesn’t come across as I intended, I’m not addressing TheProtagonist with “you” above.

Everyone assumed, that thought about it, that the sun went around the earth. Because it looked like it did. But it really doesn’t. It looks the same under both models. It should have been 50-50. Half of the cultures would be wrong and the other half would be right. Instead it was 100% wrong.

Humanity is many things, humble is not one of them. Of course our God would concern itself with us. The only shocking thing is at least once one of those bronze age writers asked “what is man that thou are mindful of him?”. A tiny moment of insight to how absurd the story really is.
