I ❤️ Beri. Please make sure Beri has an ample supply of scritches.
Why don’t they just make the whole plane planet out of the black box paint.
You rock, thank you!
So how do I actually opt out? My website is just some personal hobby stuff on wordpress that only friends and family look at, I don’t need seo.
As an old cat adopter I want to add one thing to this. Yes, it hurts to lose them when their time comes, but something I didn’t expect is that after the mourning I’ve always started to feel a sense of urgency to find the next old timer to rescue. I’ll remember the time and love I had from the ones before and I curse how much time was wasted while they waited in a shelter for someone to come for them. Why couldn’t I have found them sooner? They deserved so much more love and comfort, where the hell was I? Then we go out and find our new friends that have been waiting for us for so long and our family gets better again.
It’s always tough knowing that our time with them is short, but that’s true of any animal relationship. In the end we’re left with the love for them which in my experience never diminishes. We may say more tearful goodbyes when connecting with the old ones, but over time the wonderful memories and love in our lives just accumulates more and more.
I agree the responsibility (and occasional expense) of caring for older animals is not always in everyone’s capabilities, but I implore you not to avoid considering welcoming one (or more) into your life solely because of aversion to the pain that comes from losing them. The love they give outweighs it a thousandfold.
Kinda interesting to see a VFX youtube channel get this real about the industry (no doubt on the back of “No CGI is really just invisible CGI”, see [post here on that series](https://lemmy.ml/post/13485455)).
I don’t know about that, Corridor Crew has been keeping it real on the realities of the VFX business for years now.
Sorry, baby. No one rules the Tom Monster!
Good question. It’s been a while since I asked someone so forgive me if my memory is a little off, but if I recall the reasoning is that when sushi became big in the Edo era it was eaten by hand because it would fall apart easier. But times change and as techniques got better and you could eat it with chopsticks, that became the more ‘proper’ thing to do. Keep in mind that in izakaya (like a Japanese pub) people will even eat French fries with chopsticks - it’s just the thing to do (again, unless it’s super informal with friends and people are starting to get tipsy and then they may start snacking by hand bc they just can’t be bothered lol).
So I guess the reasoning is that the super high class joints pride themselves on their heritage and the “way it used to be done“ rather than worrying about modern sensibilities.
All that said, the best advice is watch what people around you are doing in a situation and follow their lead. That’ll usually keep you in pretty good graces. :)
This is legit the funniest video on YT.
This is not accurate. Source: been living in Japan for 14+ years. In extremely rare cases (pun unintended but welcome) it’ll happen either at a high class joint (like in Jiro Dreams of Sushi) or in informal drunken situations, but if you come over here and start shoveling nigiri into your gob with your hands in a general restaurant setting, people are going to think you’re simply an idiot.
I agree. Was just quoting the assassin’s oath from the Assassins Creed games.
Nothing is true.
Everything is permitted.
New season of Connections With James Burke is off to a rollicking start.
There was a Voyager episode that documented this in detail.
