I am joining the dark side on this one. It’s justified when they are slowing down everyones commute.

His cameo in the 2nd Iron Man movie always felt so cringey to me. I don’t know how it came about, but I like to imagine Musk asked the production for the role. It is so clear to me that he desperately wants to be seen as the man who will single handedly save the world. His companies do incredibly impressive things, I cannot discredit the work of SpaceX, but the more he speaks, the more I am convinced that he is just an egomaniac cosplaying as a genius.
People on their phones while driving. Aside from the danger it poses, I have been stuck at a light behind someone who is obviously scrolling on their phone and then doesn’t realize the light has turned green. Sometime this lasts for 10-20 seconds, which is a lifetime when trying to efficiently move through a series of stop lights. I’m not an aggressive horn honker, and I feel like an asshole if I have to use it. But if you are fucking with the flow of traffic you deserve it.
Autocorrect has gotten significantly worse for me recently. I used to be pretty well adjusted to my phone and know which words I did not need to capitalize/spell correctly because autocorrect would do it for me. Now, it feels like it is all over the place. It also does not seem to acknowledge commonly used proper nouns anymore. I type my brother’s name all the time, yet it will autocorrect to the same name witn different spelling.
I think it is funny because, in reality, these different features would not appear in the world right next to one another. This map is a dramatization of geological features with no variation or nuance that naturally occurs. But for video games, it is easier to differentiate areas with these clear geological differences so the player can be like, “Oh yes, the island town.” Or “it’s close to the mountain” It’s just an acknowlegdment if how so many video games have done the same strange thing in order to streamline gameplay.
It kept things interesting! If not realistic, it was always beautiful.
I’m very excited for this. I would love lots more episodes/seasons of this and other tv shows of the same quality.
Will this extend to Comcast so people no longer need to provide fucking death certificates to cancel the service of deceased loved ones?
I am right there with you. I get haircuts very rarely because of this.
This is how I feel as well. Small talk at it’s best is a way to transition into more detailed topics without plunging into them headfirst.
With friends and partners, I think small talk like “How was your day?” Provide a jumping off point for what they want to talk about or, in the worst case, will result in them not wanting to talk. If someone had a terrible day and is exhausted, it doesn’t help to start a conversation about the meaning of life when they probably just want to relax.
Same! It isn’t so much the small talk, but being stuck making small talk with a stranger or coworker/distant relation or whatever that you have no interest in speaking to.
Oh there are absolutely women who have turned their backs on the conservative party for those reasons and remain pro life. Personally, I see the issues as interconnected. It feels like we see a headline at least once a month where a conservative politician had an extra marital affair and was perfectly fine insisting their girlfriend get an abortion so that they can maintain their squeaky clean image. Or if their daughter had premarital sex and her successful college career was in jeopardy they would see things differently. Rules for thee and not for me. The shift is obviously more nuanced than a single issue, but reproductive rights radiates through a lot of different issues because it has to do with specifically men and their belief that their opinion matters more than others.
When pregnancy and child birth are such a monumental part of a persons life, and the ability to choose whether or not to go through that process is taken away, it makes a lot of sense why this is the ‘sole reason’ for some women. As someone who very recently gave birth, everything else in the world and other political topics are dwarfed by the absolute earth-shattering life event that is bringing a child into this world. I think it is something that people who haven’t been through it themselves, or who are not empethetic can not wrap their heads around. But there is absolutely a reason why many women are voting liberal for abortion rights alone. That is the single freedom that contributes most directly to a womens adult life. While tax policies and national affairs have an impact on everyones day to day lives, reproductive rights have an acute impact on womens immediate futures.
I haven’t seen this kind of lack of critical thinking since Tucker Carlson visited Russia.
Generative Ai is such a drain on our resources. While I am happy this is bringing about more green energy sources, watching it be poured into such meaningless bullshit is depressing.
The budget constraints on these Indie movies can often make the team behind them get incredibly creative in their filmmaking. While I think that has been beneficial and exciting in a lot of movies, it must be terribly restrictive to directors and the other creatives who have to jump through so many hoops to get films made. I think ultimately, it just means that costs will get cut in places that no one wants to see. That is a shame. I wish there was room for more mid budget movies to let these great directors have more room to breathe financially. That way the crew and cast are not limited and getting paid the bare minimum.
Hell yeah! Tim Roth iis awesome. Such a good addition to a dramatic cast.
I never thought about how uncommon the tide was at Mont St Michelle. It is famous for becoming an island at high tide. I just assumed all tides along that coast were dramatic. But it seems to be exclusive to that bay.
Those meddling Google Debunkers!
I like that being a leading expert on buttons is a profession that exists in this world. You go Rachel Plotnick.
