I could have written the exact same paragraph even though I live on the other side of the planet. It’s crazy how universal this shit seems to be.

That is nothing new they always did this with cinemas and DVD/Blu rays too. You wanted to do a screening of the jungle book? You can’t. You want to buy a box of your favorite movies, out of stock to create an artificial scarcity and demand for the Christmas season.
Yeah they are continuously slowing down Firefox and I see a future where I will simply stop using YouTube.i thank them in advance for when that day comes
No we don’t because we are not savages :)
I ride my bike and my partner theirs, we aren’t savages.
tsmc must be one of the least corporate designed mega companies out there.
Some potatoes are simply too hot.
I think for Germany it’s simply the fact that our infrastructure grew in large parts before the invention of the car, plus it’s, compared to the US, very densely populated. So it’s easier to create a useful rail system, there isn’t enough space in the cities for to many cars, even though there are way to many for my taste.
I remember typing a whole afternoon with a friend just so the screen did alternate colors, it was so underwhelming I think that killed any spark that I might have had for programming.
Not even that,I have like 5-10 programs I use regularly and I have those pinned. Only knew they changed that thing due to postings here on Lemmy.
Welcome to the club. It’s funny to see people probably being 10-20 years younger then me, experiencing this.
The impact on nature goes beyond climate gases. At least here in Germany fireworks produce 1% of the yearly pm10 particulates. That’s not nothing.
I was a always cash guy, Corona made me a card person, I still refuse to use my phone for it because it’s enough that Visa knows everything I buy, no need for Google to know it as well. Also bizarre that we become a no cash society at the same time authoritarian regimes pop up left and right…
Yes, the problem to me is manly the feeling (or fact) that we are running into an existential crisis that can and probably will decimate large amounts of the global population and instead of pulling together, people are running into the arms of demagogues and extremists that tell them we are great it’s the others that are bad and we don’t have to change anything about our way of life. Plus every other nation claims little islands or other countries areas… we won’t get anywhere if this won’t change
Even when I go to YouTube on my account I have that feeling sometimes. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I know that once adblockers won’t work anymore I will simply avoid YouTube.
I know but it feels like it’s getting more popular especially with younger people the teenagers and young teens that I know tend to be overwhelming drawn towards apple
Why is everybody so obsessed with tweaking and customizing an OS?! My systems are pretty much vanilla and apart from the file browser I hardly use any active OS features.
My printer worked out of the box under Windows no driver or anything needed. Maybe I got lucky.
Sure, but look at Germany (where I’m from) the Nazis really threw the social and cultural development back for several decades to come. And created the basis for a conservative narrow mindset that is very present today. I realize that our current government is probably one of the most progressive I will ever experience in my life and that is pretty depressing because my ideas for a better society are hardly supported by their politics.
