If I recall correctly you could draw with an dry erase marker on the inside and it would dissolve the material for the cover and make it transparent. Something like that.

I had one for grade 12. I doubt I used it other than the first page and maybe one or two days. I was not an organized person and definitely not an organized student.
I had this in second grade. I remember the spaceship would go in and out of the 0.
That would have been my second and third semesters of my senior year in college, if I hadn’t run out of money in my fourth year, and had to drop out. Thankfully The USN allowed me to finish my education as an officer and a Navy Nuke.
