Most of AI usage could be easily (with a little bit of effort) replaced by just searching for the info you need, but those days search results are so poor that asking AI gets so advantageous for the average user (that don’t care / don’t know about privacy and other costs and risks that come with it)

With ChatGPT websites became more and more AI articles. Even before that everything was just marketing. People would just add redfit infront of their search to get genuine answers.
Haven’t people been kinda searching like this for a long time though?
I just can’t imagine typing some arcane query into Google and scrolling through the Google results.
The Google search just helps you to figure out what site you actually want to search on, and then you go thete.
This is certainly the case in anything related to law or legislation or government regulation. You Google whatever thing and then see the database or website you actually want to be looking at.
Otherwise Wikipedia and stack overflow are great examples of sites you might search directly if you’re looking for information about a thing or how to address a code problem.
Reddit is a special case because the sites internal search has always been broken.
